史上初めて宇宙に行った猫のお話。

ここ最近は、宇宙がぐっと身近に感じる話題が多いですよね。
再び人類が月へ降りたつ計画や民間の宇宙旅行計画、火星移住計画などなど。

宇宙旅行するならやっぱり我が家の猫と一緒に無重力を体験したいですね。

今回紹介するAstro Cat フェリセットは、史上初めて宇宙に行ったハチワレ猫、フェリセットにちなんで名付けました。

犬、ライカを乗せたソ連のスプートニク号は世界的にも知られていると思いますが、「the First Cat in Space*」の記事を読んで、猫が宇宙空間に行って帰還していた事実を知りました。

実際に宇宙に旅立ったフェリセットちゃんは過酷な実験、研究に利用され、帰還から3ヵ月後に安楽死という悲しい結果が待っていたのですが。。

今日の宇宙開発の発展は、こういった過去の動物での実験があったからかもしれません。
これからは動物にもやさしい、明るい未来になるように何か出来ることを考えていきたいと思います。

Lately, there have been numerous discussions that bring space closer to us. We have plans for human lunar missions, private space travel initiatives, and even plans for Mars colonization.

When it comes to space travel, I can’t help but fantasize about experiencing zero gravity with my own cat at home.

The Astro Cat, Felicette, whom I’m introducing this time, was named in honor of the first-ever cat to go to space. While many of us are familiar with the Soviet spacecraft carrying the dog Laika, known as Sputnik, we discovered the fact that a cat had also journeyed to space and returned while reading the article titled “The First Cat in Space. *”

Felicette, who actually traveled to space, endured grueling experiments and research. Unfortunately, three months after her return, she was euthanized, which is a heartbreaking outcome.

We wholeheartedly express our respect, as this endeavor was undeniably courageous.
